Diners frequently rave about the fried catfish, which comes crispy and flavorful, often paired with sides like creamy potato salad and candied yams. The ribs are a highlight, especially when slathered in the house-made barbecue sauce. Another favorite is the tea cakes, cherished for their lemony sweetness and moist texture. The casual and inviting atmosphere enhances the dining experience, making guests feel like part of the family. The service garners praise as well, with many noting the staff's friendliness and willingness to accommodate special requests.
Most Disliked
Some diners note that the busiest hours can lead to longer wait times. While staff works hard to ensure quick service, peak times might lead to a packed dining room, which can affect the overall pace of dining. Additionally, a few guests have mentioned that specific dishes can run out during busy periods, encouraging earlier visits for favorites like the brisket and weekend specials. Lastly, even though the outdoor seating is nice, it may not be available on particularly busy days.

As others have mentioned, we were also passing through and found this place. So good, so friendly and we highly recommend them. My photo doesn’t do their food justice. Beef tips over creamy taters, pork chop over rice both with yams and cabbage. All done so well. Follow us on IG @roadtreklivin.

Used for a catering job. The food was tasty. I especially enjoyed the catfish and at a great price. The staff was amazing, very nice people, and worked with us on pricing and delivered. I'll have to pass by when I'm back in town. The star of the show was a friendly thank you for our business, tea cakes. The whole room loved them, I had 2, just a hint of lemon, moist and filling.

Food was amazing!. We didn’t have room to eat our dessert there, because everything else was so good. BBQ ribs with homemade BBQ sauce were the best. Mac and cheese was really good too. Homemade Pound cake with chocolate was delicious. Service was great; very friendly and welcoming.

Stopped in today. Walked in with greetings from the nicest folks! I got the brisket plate and got stuffing and candied yams for my sides. Wife got the turkey wing flat with rice and gravy. We ended it with a piece of German chocolate bundt cake. Everything was great! It's a nice little hidden gem. Highly recommend it!

WOW! I stopped in for a quick bite for lunch, and boy am I glad I did! The service was prompt and helpful and the food was one of the best “home cooked” meals I’ve had in a while. Will definitely have to try a different special if I am ever up this way again!
